Advanced Drone Operations Training
Our comprehensive Advanced Drone Operations training program prepares pilot candidates to apply for a Pilot Certificate – Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft (VLOS) – Advanced Operations.

Our programs are Transport Canada TP 15263 compliant and designed in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), which came into effect on June 1, 2019. ​
A PILOT CERTIFICATE – ADVANCED OPERATIONS IS REQUIRED IF:

You are 16 years old or older;
-
Your drone weighs 250 g up to and including 25 kg;
-
You want to fly in controlled airspace;
-
You always stay under 120 metres (400 feet) above ground level;
-
You want to fly within 30 metres (100 feet) horizontally from bystanders or fly over them;
-
You will always keep your drone in sight.

This course prepares you to write the Small Advanced Exam for acquiring a Pilot Certificate – Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft (VLOS) – Advanced Operations and covers material on topics/subjects dedicated to TP 15263.

This course consists of three modules:

Self-Study: 8 hours - Covers material dedicated to Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) and pilot resources relevant to RPAS/UAV operations plus topics/subjects dedicated to TP 15263.

Instructor Led (Online): 22 hours – Covers topics/subjects dedicated to TP 15263:

Knowledge Check (Online): 2 hours – Practice exam.

Self-study guide and materials, including extracts of Nav Canada aviation charts and CFS, will be provided to all pilot-candidates.​

This hands-on course builds and assesses the pilot-candidate's skills and knowledge to maintain and operate an RPAS, manage mandatory record-keeping, and prepare for the Flight Review, which is the final step for acquiring a Pilot Certificate – Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft (VLOS) – Advanced Operations.

This course consists of three modules:

Self-Study: 2 hours – Covers material to help you prepare for field training.

Flight Training - Instructor- Led (Hands-on): 6 hours – Provides hands-on training and tips to maintain and operate an sRPAS, and manage mandatory record-keeping.

Proficiency Check (Hands-on): 1 hour – Tests your skills and knowledge to maintain and operate an sRPAS and prepare for the Flight Review.

Prerequisites:

Pilot Certificate – Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft (VLOS) – Basic Operations or Advanced Operations

Certificate of Registration for the drone being used for flight training. If you do not own a drone, RPASOTC can provide one at additional cost, please check for details
